2. The selection of backend options

What is a backend system?

The ICU Eve Mini communicates with various online management platforms, also referred to as a backend system, via a mobile data connection or LAN. With the right backend system, you can use a very diverse range of management options.

Why do I need a backend system?

If you want to use a billing solution to have electricity costs reimbursed by your employer, bill for employee parking spaces or provide a fee-based charging option to the general public, then you need the right backend system for your charging station. So, when ordering a charging station, choose the right system for your needs. 

The Mobility House offers four backend systems:

  • Billing Service @home (so that as a company car driver, you can have electricity costs automatically reimbursed by your employer)
  • Billing Service @work (so that as a company, you can bill your employees for electricity used for charging electric cars for personal use)
  • Billing Service @public (so you can provide a public, fee-based charging option for other electric car drivers, and earn money in the process)
  • ICU EZ (so you can manage user and charging data without additional services, backend of ICU; only available in English and Dutch)

Please note that an ICU charging station with RFID function can only be ordered with a backend, as otherwise you will not be able to charge it. Even if you do not wish to use a billing service, you need a backend in which, as a minimum, you can release RFID cards for charging at your charging station.

The use of your own backend systems is basically possible, but must be coordinated with us before ordering.

The ICU Eve Mini's attractive design and versatile fields of application make it the perfect charging station at home, in the workplace or in public areas. Our charging stations from ICU, an experienced manufacturer in the Netherlands, stand out from other charging stations thanks to their intelligent functions: 

  • Internet connection via mobile data connection or LAN
  • Communication with backend systems via OCPP 1.5 (JSON)
  • Compatible with our billing services
  • Can be integrated into a static or dynamic load management system on its own or with several ICU EVE Minis
  • RFID access protection

These features make the ICU Eve Mini a clever all-rounder for your garage.

 

Reduce the charging process to up to one hour with 22 kW of charging power and maximum safety.

With the ICU Eve Mini wallbox you can charge your electric car with 22 kW of power up to 10 times faster than on a standard household socket. This means a reduction in the charging time to up to one hour, depending on the type of vehicle. However, your electric car must be capable of being charged using 22 kW. In our charging times overview you can find out how much faster you can charge your electric car and so save time.

  

Load management means always charging with optimum power.

Many charging stations reach their limits when you want to charge a number of electric cars at the same time. Limited connection capacity means the fuse blows or, in the worst case scenario, the power cable overheats. Not with the ICU Eve Mini. An appropriate load management system means the charging power can be continuously adjusted and ensures that your electric car is always charged with optimum power. Ideal for the semi-public sector. Charge different electric cars at one charging station.

The plug connection gives you flexibility. No matter whether you want to charge an electric car with a type 1 or type 2 plug, with the right charging cable you always have the appropriate connection. This means ICU's charging station is suitable for the semi-public sector as well as for private use. The charging station is designed both for wall mounting and for indoor and outdoor installation on a pedestal. Thanks to the weatherproof housing and the plug connection, the charging station is suitable for company or hotel car parks.

 

How does the RFID blocking function work?

The RFID blocking function means you can make sure that the only electric car drivers who use the charging facility are the ones who ought to. They connect their electric car using the charging cable, but the power does not flow until they enable the charging station with the RFID charging card. This charging station with the RFID function is sought after precisely in those areas which are open to the public. Additional RFID cards can be enabled via the chosen backend system. Further special features:

The colour display shows charging instructions and transaction information. You can give the charging station an individual touch by paying an extra fee for your own logo.

 

The following must be taken into account when installing the ICU Eve Mini:

For professional installation and your own safety, a type A RCD with EV direct current detection or a type B RCD is needed in the domestic installation. In addition, installation, assembly and maintenance work must only be carried out by a qualified electrician who knows the standards and installation regulations and is fully responsible for the installation. Here we have summarised everything you need to take into account when installing a charging station.

als stolzer Nutzer einer Wallbox Eve Mini, freue ich mich jeden Abend über die schnelle Ladung meines Autos. Der Einbau hat perfekt geklappt und die Anlage funktioniert einwandfrei.
Super ist auch der Abrechnungsservice, so habe ich die Kosten und jede einzelne Ladung im Blick-und das Allerbeste ist, das mein Arbeitgeber die Stromkosten übernimmt-!

Habe die Station seit ein paar Wochen im Einsatz und bis jetzt funktioniert alles wunderbar. Das Display finde ich ganz schick und auch sonst ist die Wallbox recht kompakt gebaut und macht sich schön in meiner Garage. Passt sogar zur Wagenfarbe :) Die Webanwendung finde ich ganz interessant, da man sieht, wie viel man eigentlich ins Auto lädt.
